Namokkaram
– Awakening knowledge Consciousness
‘Navkar’ is the most profound mantra that is universal in acceptance and one of the most powerful ones. This mantra addresses the divine qualities and attainments of all the saints, siddhas and sages. Navkar mantra is beyond the boundaries of religion, caste and creed. It is general in its appeal and profound in its message.
The ultimate purpose of the Navkar mantra is to seek spiritual wealth and not material gains. Hence it is important to chant the Navkar mantra without any greedy reasons. Always seek the welfare of all the beings on the earth and pray for the guidance of the spiritually evolved masters to guide your path towards liberation.
The mantra respects and praises the advanced spiritual beings who show the path to the rest of the humans to follow. It seeks the blessings of those noble souls that remind people of their final goal or Nirvana.
The deeper meaning….
Navkar or Namaskar is a profound sutra that has much more information than what is superficially perceived. It contains the essence of the ’14 Purvas’ – the original texts containing complete knowledge of the self and the universe . Every word and every line has a divine message and stimulates the awakening of our higher virtues and potentials.
The title of this sutra is derived from the central concept of this sutra – ‘Namo”. It has a subtle suggestion to respect and bow down to the 5 ‘parmesthis’ described therein. The hidden message in this recitation is about communion with the higher energies associated with the 5 parmeshthi.
This sutra serves to awaken the higher functions of our Mind and specifically our ability to understand and absorb knowledge. ‘Namo’ also resonates with ‘NAMA’ which represent our mental formations – the formations of an ‘informative image’ of tattvas or the formations of ‘experiential knowledge’ registered by involvement in events. These mental formations are subject to individual capability and limited by it. As a result, the formation of the image of things is limited and incomplete. The formation of experiences may be conditioned by our limitations. Thus the formation of the right image of reality is ‘unreal’.
‘Mind’ is an enigma. Though it is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal, we are unable to harness its potentials. In spiritual sciences, mind or ‘mann’ is the facilitator of knowledge, a powerful tool of the soul. Mahasadhana ‘Namokkaram’ purifies the mind – and its function of knowledge formation and crystallisation of experience. It opens the potentials for ‘experiencing’ reality!
In essence Namokkaram is the Sadhana for evolving our ‘Knowledge Consciousness’ and thus evolving our potential of knowing and experiencing things as they truly are…
